The Rebound: A Wheelchair Basketball Documentary Story
THE MISSION
To inspire audiences, raise awareness for wheelchair basketball programs, including the Miami Heat Wheels, and help create enriching opportunities for people with physical disabilities through crowdfunding, social conversation, events and creative media.
THE STORY OF THE MIAMI HEAT WHEELS
Wheelchair basketball has been in Miami since the early 90’s, but the program has been challenged in recent years due to budget constraints. As a result, the Miami youth and women’s programs have been shut down. Now, the Miami Heat Wheels is the last team still pushing for glory in Miami.
The film takes audiences inside the lives of the members of the Miami Heat Wheels wheelchair basketball team and their quest for a NWBA National Championship. Compelling stories of determination, hardship, and achievement help audiences understand the impact of wheelchair basketball and the amazing opportunities it provides for people with physical disabilities.

THE DIRECTOR
Shaina Koren is the Creative Director, Lead Cinematographer, and Lead Editor for the documentary film. Shaina is a graduate of James Madison University’s School of Media Arts and Design and currently owns her own cinematography studio: Shaina Koren Cinematography
