Wheels & Waves” at the Michael Ann Russell JCC

On Sunday, June 1, the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center in North Miami Beach will be on double duty, by hosting two important events in their efforts to raise awareness and some much needed funds for two very worthwhile and inspiring organizations.

The MAR-JCC’s Prime Time Girls Basketball Team consisting of girls in grades 5 and 6, recently developed a charity aptly named the Points 4 LoveProject as a way to give back community service hours to charitable causes.

For every point that the Miami Heat Basketball team players score in their season, the Prime Time girls will offer community service hours towards Heat players’ charities. During the development of this project, the girls discovered the Miami Heat Wheels – a competitive wheelchair basketball team in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA).

The Miami Heat Wheels Team will showcase their skills in two tournaments – one against the Sunrise Suns and the other against the Ft. Lauderdale Sharks. The tournaments will take place in the Scheck Family Gymnasium at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC.

Both the Miami Heat Wheels Wheelchair Basketball Tournament and the Special Olympics Florida – Miami-Dade Aquatics Games are free and open to the public, with food and beverages available for purchase. Sponsorship and opportunities are available.

For more information regarding the Miami Heat Wheels event, contact Susanne Reiter at 954-213-5242. For more information regarding the Special Olympics Florida – Miami-Dade Aquatics Games, contact Helen Jena at 305-932-4200 x147. – See more at: http://www.communitynewspapers.com/aventura/local-jcc-to-host-miami-heat-wheels-tournament-and-special-olympics-aquatic-games/#sthash.dMAwmjCN.dpuf
