Miami Heat Wheels continue to build, grow and win!

Miami’s wheelchair basketball team, the Miami Heat Wheels, continue to have a strong presence in the 2013-14 NWBA season. They’re back at practice this week, coming off a solid performance this past weekend at the Tampa Bay Strongdog Invitational tournament in Tampa, FL on December 7-8. The Miami Heat Wheels Family

Two and a half years ago, after having been injured for one year, I heard about a wheelchair basketball team in Miami. For 20 years I was always an athlete and was involved in sports. After my injury, my priority was to stay active and to be able to still compete and practice sports. As soon as I found the Miami Heat Wheels, I started going to their practices. Knowing nothing about wheelchair basketball, but at the same time fulfilled with interest on the sport and enthusiasm to learned it and be good at it, I met this wonderful group of guys that received me with wide open arms and more than willing to teach me what I needed to know and share their years of experience with me to make a better player out of me.
